Great British Talent at Jewellery and Watch 2017
What is it?
A brand new show highlight for this year, the Great British Talent is a showcase of the craftsmanship and skill contained within the industry. Drawing on the historic connection between Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter and the industry itself, the Great British Talent will provide the opportunity to experience live some of the techniques that add a personal depth and professional pride to a piece. Demonstrations by a number of UK craftsmen include mould cutting, hand engraving, mounting andsetting.
What are we doing?
We have been invited by The National Association of Jewellers to bring along our rough and facet gemstones throughout the day. In-house faceting is a new direction for us, our passion to promote greater transparency within the jewellery supply chain has motivated us to educate ourselves expertly enough to be able to shorten the gap between mine and market. Personally selecting the rough we facet also makes for greater transparency. Susi is currently in Tucson, Arizona at The Gem Show and will be bringing stones along to the show that she has sourced from her travels. Faceting not only gives us a greater transparency but also enables us to develop our jewellery design, giving freedom of form and cut.
We document our faceting experiences through our educational GemVlog, you can view all episodes by subscribing to our YouTube channel here.
